I’m Garret. I’m an Experience Designer in Charlotte, NC.
I am a UX generalist, having broad experience in Strategy, Architecture, Design and Research. Much of my experience has been as the sole UX designer, which has afforded me the unique opportunity to touch projects at every stage. Being the lone Design voice has also mandated I assume the role of UX Advocate for the wider company audience. As such, I’m comfortable working across a range of teams and stakeholders, from off-shore contractors to executive leadership.
I’ve been able to work with some of the most recognizable brands in the country, spending time with the YMCA and AAA. I’ve also worked for much smaller companies in unique niches, ranging from background screening to agricultural data management. By distancing myself from specialization, I’ve been able to develop a diverse, flexible skillset that can be applied to any organizational context.
As a UX Generalist with a degree in graphic design, my skillset includes UI design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Usability Research & Analysis, Front-end coding (HTML, CSS, JS) and Strategic Planning/Design Thinking. Able to operate as a solo designer, team leader or part of a larger team, I strive to provide the best experience to users by adapting to the project needs.
